With over 15 years’ experience, Mr Kass-Iliyya is also an expert in the diagnosis of prostate cancer, trans perineal biopsy procedures of the prostate, bladder cancer diagnosis and treatment, as well as andrology (erectile dysfunction) and the initial assessment of incontinence.
He originally qualified from the University of Aleppo in 2004. He completed his basic surgical training in Staffordshire, Darlington, Stockton-on-Tees and Middlesbrough before going on to accomplish higher specialist training across Swindon, London, York, Bristol and Plymouth, acquiring vast experience in all aspects of general urology, stone disease and benign and malignant prostate disorders.
In 2010, Mr Kass-Iliyya obtained a Master’s degree with distinction from the University of Edinburgh. His final thesis analysed the functional outcomes and the quality of life of prostate cancer patients after undergoing radical prostatectomy. Having previously become a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Mr Kass-Iliyya took up his NHS Consultant post in 2020 at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals, where he currently also serves as the Lead Clinician for the stone services.
He is also an active and prominent figure in clinical research, and has authored various publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, such as the British Journal of Urology and the European Journal of Urology. Mr Kass-Iliyya has been invited to present at selected national and international urological conferences in France, Ireland, Sweden, the UK and the USA, and as a leading expert in his specialty, he was also awarded with the best paper prize at The British Association of Urological Surgeons conference in Liverpool.
