He is also a well-established Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at County Durham and Darlington's NHS Foundation Trust. Mr Bawarish has been working at Darlington Memorial Hospital for more than 26 years. The positive patient feedback and satisfactory joint replacement outcomes have been well above average over the years. He has received excellent compressive training in very good centres both in the UK and abroad. Mr Bawarish has been providing surgical training and education to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
He has lots of experience in foot and ankle surgery, forefoot reconstruction and arthroscopic procedures for knees and ankles. He was one of the first Orthopaedic surgeons in the North East of England to successfully introduce the use of Allograft for hip and revision reconstruction surgery.
Mr Bawarish has a lot of experience managing forefoot surgical problems and foot joint replacement procedures. He has published on this subject with long-term follow-up studies. Mr Bawarish uses enhanced recovery techniques for all of his patients who are having joint replacement to help with a quick and comfortable recovery and early mobilisation post-operatively, with a short stay in hospital post-op. He has a great interest in providing face to face consultant follow-ups to all of his patients following joint replacement, to secure the optimal outcome.
He previously held a senior position with the Health Commissioner for many years; advising, managing and dealing with large and complex trauma and orthopaedic cases at a national level.
His efficiency has contributed to the ongoing success of Woodlands over the last 20 years.
