Personal Profile
After completing his graduation in 2002 from Allama Iqbal Medical College Lahore (Pakistan), he joined a structured training program in general internal medicine and then in respiratory medicine. Dr Saleem has been working in the field of respiratory medicine since 2006, in order to gain further training, experience and qualifications he moved to the UK in 2010. His first appointment within the NHS was as a Consultant in 2014. Dr Saleem then gained experience in interventional bronchoscopy and pulmonology from University College of London Hospital. Throughout his career Dr Saleem has been involved in teaching and training of medical students. He has been both Clinical and Educational Supervisors for Junior Doctors and Respiratory Trainees.
Whilst also regularly participating in various research projects and audits, he is also a Royal College Examiner and Regional Advisor for The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
Over the past 15 years, he has participated in various national and international clinical trials and also has published case reports, review articles and original articles in various medical journals. He has keen interest in teaching and training and has supervised medical students, junior doctors and respiratory trainees.
Dr Saleem has extensive experience of diagnosing and treating general respiratory conditions including lung cancer, COPD, asthma, sarcoidosis, sleep apnoea and interstitial lung disease. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Saleem worked within the NHS to look after COVID-19 patients requiring inpatient treatments and also provided the post-admission follow up care to these patients.
