His research findings were presented at national and international meetings and he was selected to represent his hospital for a visit to Downing Street recognising “excellence in the NHS”. He then obtained a place as a cardiology registrar in the Yorkshire Deanery. The final years of his training were spent specialising in electrophysiology and culminated in a fellowship at Wythenshawe Hospital.
His training has provided him with extensive experience of cardiac pacing and the latest ablation techniques for all arrhythmias including VT and Atrial Fibrillation (AF). In addition to his clinical duties, Ben is heavily involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and leads the audit of the pacing and ablation service at Wythenshawe. He has active research projects looking at how best to measure patient experience and the optimal way to pace the heart. He is also on the panel of the medicines management committee to ensure the safe adoption of new medicines within Wythenshawe. Ben has a special interest in the management of Atrial Fibrillation and is an approved member of the Atrial Fibrillation Association UK.
In addition to his expertise within all things cardiological Ben has a particular expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and management of heart rhythm problems. A large part of his work is the delivery of a significant number of ablation procedures and within his practice Ben offers procedures at the cutting edge of medicine. In addition Ben also implants pacemaker devices from the most basic to the most complicated and does so with a proven track record of care of the highest quality with below average complication rates and great outcomes for patients.
