Personal Profile
As an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons, Mr Nicholls represents the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons on the Intercollegiate Board of Examiners. He is a Senior Journal Article Reviewer with the Journal of Paediatric Surgery, and a visiting lecturer at Imperial College London. As a general paediatric surgeon, he has a special interest in neonatal, and gastro-intestinal surgery, as well as inguinoscrotal surgery and provides vascular access for children requiring long term parenteral nutrition, or chemotherapy.
He performs appendicectomies, cholecystectomies and fundoplications laparoscopically when appropriate, many Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomies for assisted nutrition. The more common neonatal conditions he manages include Hirschsprung’s disease, malrotation, atresias of the oesophagus, and intestine, and necrotizing enterocolitis.
