Professional profile
Dr Tran was awarded the prestigious National Institute of Health Research PhD Fellowship and completed his PhD in 2019. During this time, he also obtained the internationally recognised European League Against Rheumatism Advanced Ultrasound qualification. He routinely uses ultrasound scans to detect arthritis.
He has a particular interest in sporting and musculoskeletal injuries and has completed a Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine. He has been the sports doctor for several amateur and professional clubs, including Castleford Tigers and Leeds Rhinos Academy.
Dr Tran has been involved in training other doctors, and has published regional guidelines on the treatment of rheumatological conditions, as well as injections books. He has contributed to leaflets on rheumatological conditions, published by Arthritis Cares. He maintains an active research interest and continues to publish and present at international conferences. Dr Tran is an executive member of the Primary Care Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Medicine Society.
In his spare time, Dr Tran enjoys running, martial arts and cooking. His favourite pastime is spending time with his family!
