Personal Profile
Mr Ioannis Aktselis is a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising in Foot and Ankle Surgery and Lower Limb Reconstruction. He was appointed to Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust in 2018.
Mr Aktselis has completed his Trauma and Orthopaedic Training in Athens, Greece and subsequently in the UK. He has gained his subspecialty training after completion of a Trauma Fellowship at Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham and a Foot and Ankle and Limb Reconstruction Fellowship in Bristol Royal Infirmary. Mr Aktselis has also undertaken a travelling Foot and Ankle and Limb Reconstruction Fellowship to Tampa General Hospital in Florida to visit Dr Roy Sanders, a pioneer in foot and ankle surgery.
Mr Aktselis has a strong academic background having completed an MSc in Health Management and a PhD with distinction in the surgical management of hip fractures.
His scientific articles in peer reviewed journals have achieved more than 350 citations and he has presented in National and International Orthopaedic Conferences. His strong interest in teaching and training has been acknowledged as he has been awarded the Trainer of the Month in Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and he has been the recipient of a Care Award for his compassionate care towards his patients. Mr Aktselis has been appointed as the Major Trauma Lead for Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
His aim is to provide the best clinical care with an evidence-based approach to all aspects of foot and ankle surgery.
