He is and continues to be passionate about high-quality patient care and as well as developing his skills in knee replacement (total, partial and revision), hip replacement and arthroscopic surgery also developed the MRSA free orthopaedic ward at Redditch and was instrumental in the building of the Redditch Orthopaedic Centre and the associated Arafa education centre.
He held the position of Orthopaedic Clinical Director for nine years followed by associate Medical Director for three years. He was the Course Director for the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and ran four courses a year from 1998 to 2019..
He was one of the initial UK users of the successful Stryker Triathlon Knee replacement in 2006 and has carried out over 1400 of these since that time. He is currently the UK study lead on a 10-year review of the advanced X3 polyethylene used in this prosthesis.
He is an enthusiastic proponent of enhanced recovery protocols to ensure rapid recovery from interventions and minimising complications. Data regarding his outcomes from joint replacement are available on the National Joint Registry website www.njrcentre.org.uk.
