He has completed a PhD in cancer biology, conducted national studies and an author on over 150 publications. Mr Roberts supervises PhD students and teaches at the University of Birmingham.
He is leading studies to investigate and improve nutrition in pancreatic cancer and improving outcomes after pancreatic surgery. He has led the most comprehensive national audit of pancreatic cancer in the UK.
By improving the patient pathway, he aims to ensure that every possible benefit can be realised for patients with cancer. Successful surgical outcomes are achieved when every part of a pathway is optimised. He offers a second opinion service for patients with pancreatic cancer to ensure that all options for treatment and best practice have been explored. He operates on patients with borderline resectable and locally advanced pancreatic cancer who need complex vascular surgery as well as pancreatic cancer surgery.
He has wide experience in treating liver disease with liver surgery and liver transplantation.
