He has published over 40 scientific papers in international journals and is the author of 2 books: “The Male Genitalia” and “Eczema Passport”. He is also the co-author of the “ABC of Sexual Health”.
Dr Shah has a higher doctorate degree (MD, University of Birmingham) in the field of contact dermatitis and is a nationally recognised expert in male genital skin disease. He qualified in Medicine in Birmingham in 1988, then worked in General Medicine and Adult and Adolescent Cancer Medicine before entering Dermatology in 1992. He completed his specialist Dermatology training in Sheffield and has been on the GMC Specialist Register since 1998.
Dr Shah has a keen interest in medical teaching and training new dermatologists. He has a postgraduate certificate of education in workplace-based medical education. He has contributed to the national e-learning for healthcare website which produces training and teaching for healthcare professionals as well as the training curriculum for the British Association of Dermatologists. He lectures nationally and internationally. His areas of research include male genital skin disease, skin cancer, skin disease in older people and contact allergy. He has presented scientific papers and posters across the world from America to Europe and South Africa.
In a recent publication, Dr Shah reviewed 600 of his male patients with genital skin problems looking at outcomes: only 4.5% of patients failed to get any improvement in problems.
