He also holds an NHS practice at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Swindon. Mr Potter graduated from University College London. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and completed his training in all aspects of Plastic Surgery at Mount Vernon Hospital, Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Oxford University Hospitals and The Royal Brisbane and Princess Alexandra Hospitals.
He was awarded his FRCS(Plast) in 2009 and was made a consultant in Oxford in 2011. In 2005 he was made a Hunterian Professor (Royal College of Surgeons, England) for his research into artificial skin and scar/wound healing.
Mr Potter has undertaken specialist fellowships in skin cancer surgery, head and neck surgery (benign and malignant) and aesthetic surgery. He is a core member of the skin cancer multidisciplinary meetings in Oxford and Swindon as well as the head and neck cancer and skull base cancer multidisciplinary meetings in Oxford. He is a member of the Thames Valley Skin Cancer Specialist Group and is the lead for clinical governance and safety for head and neck surgery in Oxford.
Mr Potter aims to provide care of the highest quality. He maintains this quality by regular audit of his outcomes as well as visiting, presenting and undertaking research with other surgeons both nationally and internationally. He regularly publishes his outcomes and techniques as a means of informing others of his results and providing transparency of his work for his patients. Mr Potter doesn’t work as an isolated surgeon. Where appropriate he works in teams to provide patients with specialists that provide overlapping skills to meet his patients’ needs.
