Mr Zekry, who is also an expert when it comes to joint replacement, arthroscopy, joint fusions, trigger finger, Dupuytren’s disease, cubital tunnel decompression, Hand and wrist injuries, carpal tunnel decompression and sports injuries. He notably obtained an FRCS in orthopaedics and trauma from the Royal College of Surgeons in 2016, and subsequently in 2021, he was awarded his Diploma in Hand Surgery from the European Board of Hand Surgery.
Mr Zekry is an expert in operating using Wide Awake Local Anaesthesia No Tourniquet (WALANT) without the need for general or regional anaesthesia.
After completing his higher specialty orthopaedic training in Birmingham University Hospitals, he impressively undertook an upper limb complex trauma and Hand fellowships at King’s College London. Prior moving to the United Kingdom, Mr Zekry worked at Supra-regional major Trauma Centre in Dubai dealing with severely injured patients with complex fractures for nearly 10 years. He was appointed as Lecturer of orthopaedic surgery for Dubai Medical College.
Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Zekry teaches Hand surgery on various training platform courses for FRCS (Tr&Orth) exam candidates, and notably edited the Hand and Wrist book chapter in Concise Orthopaedic Notes for FRCS (Tr&Orth).
He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and has also presented his research at various prestigious national and international conferences. He is the clinical governance lead for trauma and orthopaedics and a member of the quality and safety panel for surgical specialties at Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He worked as Hand and wrist consultant at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust before joining Homerton Hospital.
