Personal Profile
She graduated from medical school in 1992 and completed her postgraduate training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in Birmingham. Her training in general obstetrics & gynaecology was followed by training in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery at major laparoscopic training centres in the UK. She has also undertaken a visiting fellowship to the USA to learn laparoscopic and robotic surgery.
She has published several articles in peer reviewed journals and has written a book on the MRCOG examination. She is a senior clinical examiner for medical students at Birmingham University. She also examines for the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology and teaches on courses for the MRCOG part II examination.
Her main interests are in general gynaecology including menstrual disorders, pelvic pain and endometriosis. She is skilled at laparoscopic (keyhole) hysterectomies, thus allowing patients to go home within a day of sugery. She is proficient at removal of even large ovarian cysts with keyhole surgery and also complex open pelvic surgery for severe endometriosis. She has a special interest in gynaecological cancers, and is involved in screening for cervical and ovarian cancer and the treatment of patients with bleeding after the menopause.
