Mr Hossain completed basic surgical training in London, where he obtained his FRCS. He then obtained further orthopaedic training at Roehampton, Oldham and The Royal Navy at Gosport.
He undertook his Specialist Registrar training in Orthopaedics and Trauma in Manchester, rotating through a number of units including Blackburn, Stockport, North Manchester General Hospital and Wythenshawe Hospital. During this period he developed a special interest in lower limb arthroplasty and soft tissue knee surgery. Having passed his FRCS(Tr & Orth) examinations, he embarked on a Knee Fellowship at Derby and Nottingham, thereby furthering his skills and knowledge in both lower limb arthroplasty and knee ligament surgery.
During his training he developed a keen interest in research and training. He has published over 30 papers and presented at both national and international conferences. He has been faculty on a number of courses. Mr Hossain is an examiner on the FRCS(Tr & Orth) examinations, and is currently the Associate Director of Medical Education at Oldham and the Royal College of Surgeons Tutor at Pennine Acute NHS Trust. In addition, he is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Edge Hill University.
Mr Hossain was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with an interest in Lower Limb Arthroplasty and Soft Tissue Knee Surgery at Royal Oldham Hospital, Rochdale Infirmary and Fairfield General Hospital. He is also a member of the Medical Advisory Committee at The Highfield Hospital.
