During this time Tyrone developed an expertise in advanced laparoscopic surgery and has performed a large number of such cases. Procedures undertaken included laparoscopic hysterectomy, laparoscopic myomectomy, laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy, laparoscopic adhesiolysis as well as laparoscopic treatment of all stages of endometriosis.
He has a medical doctorate for his research into endometriosis, and has also presented and published research into laparoscopic hysterectomy, ectopic pregnancy, fibroid embolisation and transcervical resection of the endometrium.
Tyrone is the gynaecological lead for laparoscopic surgery at Poole NHS Foundation Trust and undertakes over 90% of his surgery laparoscopically or hysteroscopically (excluding uterine evacuations). This includes over 80% of hysterectomies being undertaken laparoscopically with a median post-operative length of stay (in non oncology cases) of 29hrs.
