Personal Profile
An Entrance Exhibitioner and Foundation Scholar at Christ’s College Cambridge, Dr Phillips trained in General Practice and Internal Medicine in Taunton and Bath from 1985-90. This enabled him to gain an understanding of the medical context within which skin problems arise, as well as their social and emotional impact.
From 1990-2 he was Registrar in Dermatology at Birmingham General Hospital and Birmingham Children's Hospital gaining great general dermatology experience.
He subsequently won a Wellcome Fellowship and Honorary Senior Registrar post at the globally prestigious St John's Institute of Dermatology at St Thomas' Hospital from 1992-1996. While in this post he had the privilege to train in advanced diagnostic dermatopathology.
In 2001 he moved, from London, back to his home town of Bath. As Dr Phillips suffers from arthritis related foot pain he has since retired from NHS practice, but continues to practice at Bath Clinic. His own personal medical journey has contributed to and given him further insight into the problems that patients experience. This understanding makes him appreciate what his patience require and he wholeheartedly ensures that everyone is given time and consideration from start to finish.
