Recently we have been asking the opinions of patients, staff, consultants and GPs as to what makes a good hospital and what factors are most important when making their choices.
It was little surprise to learn that factors such as cleanliness, the quality of nursing and theatre staff, the availability of the best equipment were all high on the list. It was also no surprise that the proximity of hospitals and the standards of their facilities were also very important.
However, the overriding comment that came back time and again was about clinical excellence, having experienced consultants practicing in an environment where they can deliver great results for their patients. It is this factor, beyond all other that builds a hospital reputation.
