There are three ways you can refer a patient through Choose and Book with BMI Healthcare.
1. Using the online Choose and Book system
Once the patient, specialty and clinic type have been entered and you are at the ‘Service Search’ screen, you can choose to filter your services in a number of ways. To find a list of BMI hospitals offering a particular procedure, click on located in the ‘Filter Services By’ section of the screen.
2. Patient/Practice Manager booked appointment
If the patient or Practice Manager is booking the appointment, provide them with the UBRN (Unique Booking Reference Number) and they can access the Choose and Book system to complete the referral.
3. Send referral form to the BMI Referral Management Centre
The BMI Referral Management Centre has been established for general queries or to process manual referrals on your behalf, and the Centre is open from 9am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday.
You can either email or fax the referral form to the BMI Referral Management Centre, along with the referral letter, and the entire booking process will be managed for you.
When the referral has been assessed, you will be notified via Choose and Book of the referral status, and BMI Healthcare will contact your patient accordingly.
You will be provided with a discharge letter detailing the treatment received and the intended follow up plans. Each patient will be given a discharge summary for reference when they leave the hospital.
Yes. If the patient has existing NHS records that are relevant to the treatment they are receiving, the consultant will be able to request that their medical records are forwarded before treatment.
If your patient is entitled to transport as an NHS patient, then you can arrange this through your local NHS transport network. Eligibility and the type of transport your patient is entitled to will be decided by their local Primary Care Trust.
