Mr. Erik Scholten (MD PhD) has been in full-time private practice since 2000. He has developed a number of pioneering approaches to cosmetic surgical problems and has an extensive list of publications in international Plastic Surgery journals. He regularly attends national and international conferences, where he presents lectures to, and participates in workshops with, other specialists in his field.
This professional exchange of information ensures that the services he offers are always at the forefront of developments in his specialty. Mr. Scholten was born in the Northern Dutch province of Friesland and graduated from the University of Utrecht Medical School in 1989. In 1996 he completed his doctorate (Ph.D.) with a Higher Research Degree in Microsurgery. His training in plastic surgery at University Hospitals in the Netherlands and the UK, was comprehensive and in 1999, he was accredited his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training, by the Royal Dutch Medical Association.
Shortly afterwards, he entered the Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery held by the General Medical Council of the United Kingdom. He further developed his specialist skills by completing prestigious Plastic Surgical Fellowships in UK centres of excellence; Microsurgical Fellow at St. James's University Hospital, Leeds, Craniofacial Surgery Fellow at the Chelsea & Westminster Trust Hospital, London and Aesthetic Surgery Fellow at the Wellington Hospital, London.
Mr. Scholten is a full member of the British Association of Plastic Surgeons, and is on the Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery of the General Medical Council. Mr Scholten undertakes a wide variety of cosmetic and plastic surgical procedures, both surgical and non surgical. He currently specialises in 'cosmetic surgery of the body', which includes 'body reshaping' using various surgical procedures, for example, Mastopexy (breast uplift), arm lift, thigh lift, abdominoplasty, liposculpture, breast reduction or enlargement.
Mr Scholten is also recognized as the UK's leading expert in Female Genital Cosmetic Surgery. He has written and published many well known articles about this specialist field in medical journals. He has presented numerous lectures to other surgeons about his own pioneering techniques and results within this specialty. Mr Scholten is available for consultation at The Saxon Clinic on Fridays.
