Dr Palmer has an interest in the diagnosis and treatment of pre-malignant and malignant diseases of the female genital tract (including cervix, ovary, uterus, vagina and vulva). She conducts a regular colposcopy and vulval clinic.
Despite being a specialist in gynaecological oncology, Julia also manages benign gynaecological conditions and runs a menopause clinic.

Dr Julia Palmer is clinical lead for colposcopy and is Consultant Gynaecologist, specialising in gynaecology oncology at Royal Hallamshire Hospital. Julia trained in Cardiff, Birmingham and Sheffield, obtaining her MD in 2007. Her clinical interests include treatment of gynaecological cancer and pre-malignant disease of the cervix and vulva.
Dr Palmer has a keen interest in education and is currently the Membership Secretary and Editor of the Transactions for the North of England Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society. Julia also runs a charitable organisation, Sheffield Health Action Resource for Ethopia (SHARE Women’s Health) with her colleague Mr Tom Farrell, in which they teach and train women’s health issues to medical staff in Makelle, Ethopia.
