Lee Martin is Lead Clinician for Breast Services at Aintree University Hospital and Clinical Director for General Surgery. His specific interests are breast reconstruction, oncoplastic breast techniques and aesthetic breast surgery.
Mr Martin has developed an international profile in breast surgery and has given invited lectures in America, Europe and the Far East. He teaches on the Basic and Intermediate Oncoplastic Breast Courses ran by the Royal College of Surgeons, London. He is the chairman of the Association of Breast Surgery Oncoplastic Training Meeting and is the Secretary to the National Oncoplastic Guideline Committee. He chairs the Merseyside Clinical Network Group on breast disease. On a national basis Mr Martin has been appointed as Treasurer to the Association of Breast Surgery and is a member of the National Breast Committee.
His research interests are in the provision of breast services, improving cosmetic outcomes post surgery and tumour angiogenesis in breast cancer. Mr Martin co-authored “Oncoplastic Breast Surgery – a guide to good practice” on behalf of the Association of Breast Surgery and the BASO/BAAPS Interface Group. This paper has been published by the European Journal of Surgical Oncology, and is the “gold standard” text for reconstructive breast surgery in the UK. He has just finished writing the UK guidelines on “lipomodelling”.
