My Surgical training began as a Registrar at Guys in General Surgery and Urology followed by two more years as a registrar and then as Senior Registrar at the Institute of Urology London and the Royal Marsden, London. Appointed as a Consultant in Urology, King Faisal Hospital in Saudi Arabia where I later became the Head od department of Urology. Returned to the United Kingdom in 1191 and was appointed to my present post as Consultant Urological Surgeon at West Herts NHS Trust in 1993. I am the Clinical Lead for Urology and play an active part in the provision of cancer care for Hertfordshire.
My main interest is in Bladder and Prostate Cancers from diagnosis to the treatment. I have performed over two thosand Radical prostatectomies with meticulous lymphadenectomy with excellent results in terms of cancer control, preserving continence and potency. I have performed over five hundred Radical Cystectomies and over a hundred Orthotopic Bladder reconstructions. I performed the first Orthotopic Bladder at Hemel Hemstead hospital in 1995 and first in Hertfordshire. The Bladder I reconstruct has evolved over the last 17 years and I have attempted to recreate a bladder which resembles the natural one in size and shape. I have always had an interest in Paediatric surgery and perform all routine paediatricsurgery in addition to Hypospadias repair and Pyeloplasty in infants, I have considerable experience with Renial cancers and carry out Radical Nephrectomy and Nephroureterctomy and partial nephrectomy for cancers. In Saudi Arabis I obtained a vast amount of experience in dealing with very complex Vesico vaginal fistulas which were often operated unsuccessfully before and so presented a real challenge. Bilharziasis was very common and I had to improve to reconstruct entire ureters using small bowl and bladder. In my present district general hospital deal with all the benign prostatic dieases, infertility, erectile dysfunction, stone surgery and diagnostics such as Haematuria clinics and prostate biopsy and assessment.
