Dr Michelle Thomson obtained a BSc Honours degree in Life Sciences from Queen’s University, Canada in 1994. She then qualified from the University of Birmingham Medical School and trained in general medicine to become a Member of The Royal College of Physicians of London. She subsequently completed her specialist training in Dermatology in the West Midlands and was then appointed as a Consultant Dermatologist to The Birmingham Skin Centre at City Hospital.
She has a practice in all aspects of general dermatology, with special interests in skin cancer and dermatological surgery. Her publications include papers on clinical dermatology and skin cancers. She has given several national and international presentations and co-authored chapters in textbooks.
Conditions treated by Dr Thomson include; acne, allergies, blisters, cysts, eczema, fungal infections, hair disorders, hyperhidrosis, melanoma, moles, psoriasis, rashes, rosacea, scars, skin discolouration, skin cancer, sun damaged skin, ulcers, urticaria, vitiligo and warts.
Dr Thomson has also set up the Birmingham Skin Clinic , which is a private dermatology clinic. The clinic aims to assess, treat and manage all diseases which affect the skin in a caring, confidential and professional environment.
She is a keen sportswoman and continues to play tennis competitively.
