Mr Mark Jeffery is a fellowship trained surgeon Orthopaedic surgeon specialising in shoulder and elbow surgery with an emphasis on advanced techniques in arthroscopic shoulder surgery  & adult reconstructive surgery, sports injuries and complex trauma of the upper limb.

  • Shoulder instability including traumatic, atraumatic and muscle patterning instability (Multidirectional instability)

Professional profile

Mr Mark Jeffery graduated from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, London. He completed his surgical training in London and his specialist orthopaedic training was spent at the renowned The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital rotation, which also included spells at other leading London teaching hospitals including the Royal London (Trauma Unit) and the Royal Free Hospital.

Having obtained the Orthopaedic Fellowship (FRCS Orth), Mr Jeffery dedicated  18 months developing subspecialist expertise in upper limb surgery,  which also included specialist fellowship training in reconstructive surgery  and in advanced arthroscopic techniques at the Epsom Shoulder Unit in Surrey, UK.

Mr Jeffery  is a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon at University Hospital Lewisham, London, where as the Royal College of Surgeons surgical tutor Mr Jeffrey  has  the main responsibility for implementing undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training for orthopaedic surgery.

Mr Jeffery has published and presented nationally and internationally and regularly attends meetings to enhance his clinical practice. Mr  Jeffery’s research interests include: 

  • Shoulder & Elbow instability
  • Shock wave ultrasound therapy in the treatment of tennis elbow
  • MRI in rotator cuff disease
  • Use of ultrasound in diagnosing shoulder and upper limb problems
  • Advancing new methods in surgical training
