Mr Salim Najia qualified in 1975 from Zagreb University Medical School, Croatia and moved to England afterwards where he obtained vast experience in the subject of Obstetric and Gynaecology, mostly in London and in Oxfordshire Hospitals prior to coming to Blackburn as Consultant in Obstetric and Gynaecology in 1989. He is able to provide a wide range of outpatient diagnostic procedures including Colposcopy, Endometrial biopsy, insertion of Intra uterine devices and diagnostic Hysteroscopy.
In addition to general Gynaecology whilst working at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford; Gynaecological Oncology became Mr Najia’s special interest, an interest that he pursues with dedication and compassion since 1985.
Mr Najia became recognised nationally and internationally for his surgical skills particularly in the field of Minimal Access Surgery, Oncology and Using the Vaginal route for Hysterectomy.
Mr Najia did develop new techniques in Minimal Access Surgery enabling complicated surgery to be carried out safely on obese patients who otherwise would have to under go laparotomy.
A great believer in passing one’s knowledge on, he actively is involved in educating and training Students, doctors, nurses and midwives.
Mr Najia has written and published several articles on the subject of minimal access surgery and Vaginal hysterectomy, and presented his work at various scientific and professional meetings.
