Miss Stella Vig is a Consultant Vascular and General Surgeon at BMI Shirley Oaks Hospital in Croydon. Miss Vig qualified at the University Of Wales College Of Medicine in 1991. She trained in vascular and general surgery in Wales and South London.

Miss Vig was appointed as Consultant Vascular and General Surgeon at Mayday University Hospital in 2006. She oversaw the development of the Diabetic, Vascular and Wound Care Centre at Mayday and won the National BMJ Clinical Leadership award for this venture (2009). The unit has reduced the rates of amputations in Croydon and was awarded the Wounds UK award (2009). Croydon continues to have the lowest incidence of amputations in South West London despite a high prevalence of diabetes.

She has continued to improve access for patients with diabetic foot or wound care problems and is has convened the local and London Diabetic Foot Care Network. She has involvement in NHS Diabetes and Diabetes UK documents developing these services.

She is also a committed surgical trainer and is the Foundation Programme Director and Core Surgery Programme Director responsible for training doctors in their early years.
