Tim Heymann specialises in diseases of the gullet, stomach, bowel and liver.
He graduated top of his year at Cambridge University and then was then a clinical student at St. Thomas’s Hospital in London. Since qualifying he has worked at St. Thomas’s Hospital, Charing Cross, the Chelsea and Westmister and the Royal Brompton and now is the senior consultant gastroenterologist at Kingston Hospital in Surrey. He was appointed in 1996.
He has established services for oesophageal physiology assessments, capsule endoscopy (supported by the Mayor of Kingston’s charity) and the management of hepatitis C. Each year he performs or directly supervises about 1,000 gastroscopies and colonoscopies.
He chairs a committee for the British Society of Gastroenterology, examines for the Royal College of Physicians and holds an academic appointment as Reader with the Health Management Group at Imperial College London. He is an active teacher and trainer both in the UK and internationally.
