15-JUL-10
Members of staff from BMI Shirley Oaks Hospital will be jogging around Lloyd Park in honour of friends, family and colleagues who have sadly lost their lives to cancer when they participate in the Croydon ‘Race for Life’ next weekend.
The event, which takes place on Sunday 25th July 2010 through Lloyd Park in Croydon, is part of a nationwide series of 5k (kilometre) runs aimed at raising awareness of cancer and funds for Cancer Research UK.
The team, made up of around 20 women who work in various departments throughout the hospital, have set out to raise funds for cancer research at the same time as improving their fitness levels and keeping fit and active.
Director of Nursing at Shirley Oaks Hospital, Karen Smith said; ‘It is going to be both a fun and emotional day, we’ll be having lots of fun cheering each other on, but we’ll be thinking about those friends, family, colleagues and patients who are sadly no longer with us.’
