BMI Thornbury Hospital and BMI Chatsworth Suite appoints new Executive Director

A North Derbyshire resident with over 30 years experience of managing health services has been appointed as the new Executive Director of BMI Thornbury Hospital in Sheffield and BMI Chatsworth Suite in Chesterfield.
In her new position, Hull born Kath Craig will be working closely with Consultants and hospital staff to continue to deliver exceptional care and to support the local community.
“BMI Thornbury Hospital and the Chatsworth Suite have fantastic reputations for providing quality care and I am very pleased to be leading such a skilled and dedicated team of people,” says Kath.
Kath originally qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 1976 and moved into health general management via the NHS management training scheme in 1987. Kath’s many years of health service experience have included positions such as Director of Speech and Language Therapy Services in Sheffield; Divisional Health Planning Manager for South Yorkshire; Director of Marketing and Communications at the Central Sheffield University Hospitals and the Group General Manager for Surgical Services at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Trust. She has additional qualifications in psychology and marketing and Masters Degrees in both Linguistics (clinical research) and Business Administration being a graduate of Leeds, Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam Universities.
During her successful career, Kath has published on topics ranging from children’s speech and language disorders through to many aspects of health management and planning. She has presented at many health conferences including an international conference on the UK health reforms.
“I have had a fabulous career so far but this new opportunity to work for BMI Healthcare is one of the most exciting for me,” says Kath.
