About us

We are delighted to announce that we are investing in the future of the Ridgeway Hospital and the services we offer to our patients and are currently undergoing expansion and refurbishment works on site.

By Autumn 2024, the Ridgeway Hospital will have 10 brand new outpatient rooms, 3 new state-of-the art outpatient treatment rooms, an expanded Oncology unit and refurbished Gymnasium. At the rear of the hospital there will be a new entrance atrium with improved pedestrian access, and pending planning permission, additional parking spaces.

During these building works there will be some disruption which we will try and make this as minimal as possible. Please allow extra time for parking and getting to your appointment. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience.

Established in 1984, we have an excellent reputation for providing rapid access to diagnosis and treatment for routine and complex conditions.

In June 2022 we were rated as Good by the CQC, the independent regulator for the Care and Quality Commission, who described The Ridgeway Hospital as having effective, well led-services. In addition the CQC noted that the hospital treated patients with compassion and kindness. We were further praised for the way staff involve the patients and their families throughout their treatment which help patients make better and more informed decisions.

Previously known as BMI The Ridgeway Hospital, we are now owned by the award winning Circle Health Group. The UK's largest private hospital group, with more than 50 locations across the UK.

More about The Ridgeway Hospital

    • An Overview of the facilities at our hospital

The Ridgeway Hospital has 56 beds. All patient rooms offer the privacy and comfort of en-suite facilities and TV. Equipped to a high standard, the rooms provide a relaxed and comfortable environment, conducive to rapid recovery and convalescence.

Our Imaging Suite offers a full and extensive range of services, including a 1.5T MRI Scanner, and a CT scanning facility as well as X-ray, available for same day appointments.

The physiotherapy department incorporates fitness, health screening and well-being, along with a large, well equipped gymnasium and several treatment rooms.

The hospital has three theatres, one of which is home to a Stryker Nav Suite which is a completely integrated computer assisted surgery solution with a ceiling-mounted camera that tracks instrumentation.

In 2021 we refurbished our Endoscopy Suite to offer our patients a dedicated endoscopy facility in a calm and welcoming atmosphere, with patient privacy at the forefront of its design. All pre and post endoscopy care is delivered in individual en-suite rooms which ensures that privacy, dignity, and confidentiality are maintained throughout the patient stay. Our endoscopy service has received accreditation from the Joint Advisory Group (JAG), an independent regulator that assesses all endoscopy suites to make sure they are trusted, focused and sustainable.

The Ambulatory Day Care Suite which we opened in January 2022, has been developed in line with modern healthcare needs, whereby techniques have improved so much that people who might overwise have needed an overnight stay after their surgery can now be offered aftercare treatment in a comfortable environment, before returning home the same day.

Our facilities at the hospital enable our consultants to undertake a wide range of procedures from routine investigations to complex surgery. This specialist expertise is supported by caring and professional medical staff, with dedicated nursing teams, and a Resident Medical Officer on duty 24 hours a day, providing care within a friendly and comfortable environment.

The Ridgeway offers free parking for patients. We recommend that you allow more time to find a space during peak hours due to the high demand on our hospital services.

    • Medication prescribed for NHS patients receiving treatment or consultations at Ridgeway Hospital will reflect the medicines included within the Local Health Economy formulary.
