BMI hospitals across the country offer two different ways of treating varicose veins - surgical stripping or laser treatment.

Where a hospital offers both treatment methods the choice of which is appropriate for you will be taken after assessment by your specialist and in discussion with you.
In general, however laser treatment involves a shorter time in hospital, offers a faster recovery time in terms of returning to normal activity and less bruising. Not all consultant surgeons favour the laser approach and the comparison of the long-term benefits of this technique with the traditional surgical approach has yet to be completed. Laser treatment is also not appropriate for all patients
