About us

Albyn Hospital is part of Circle Health Group, a leading provider of healthcare services throughout the UK. Located in the west end of Aberdeen, Albyn Hospital is the only independent hospital serving Aberdeen/shire and the North of Scotland.

Our facilities combined with the latest onsite imaging and diagnostic technology enables the team of over 100 Consultants to undertake a wide range of procedures ranging from routine investigations to complex surgery. Some of the main private treatments offered at Albyn Hospital include orthopaedic surgery, eye surgery, one stop breast clinic service, gynaecology, general surgery and gastroenterology.

The Consultants are supported by an experienced and dedicated multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals and administration staff to provide patients with the highest level of care in a friendly and comfortable environment. Additional support services available on-site include a laboratory, pharmacy and audiology service. 

Recently the Sunflower Suite (outpatient oncology suite) has been accredited with the Macmillan Quality Environmental Mark (MQEM) and the theatre team were awarded AfPP’s Certificate of Achievement for Safe Perioperative Practice. 

An £8milliion investment into Albyn Hospital is currently underway. By Summer 2024, the hospital will gain an additional laminar operating theatre, 3 more patient en-suite bedrooms, an additional 7 patient day case rooms all to the to the rear of the hospital, and an improved pedestrian entrance from the front parking area to the main hospital entrance.

Patients can access our services through private medical insurance or by self-paying. 

Albyn Hospital accepts referrals from GPs, Optometrists and Physiotherapists.

Offering patients access to consultation, diagnostics and results for breast cancer in the same one-day appointment.

Bowel Screening

Albyn Hospital offers a bowel screening service for individuals of any age who have concerns about bowel cancer. This service is led by our Consultant Gastroenterologists who will carry out relevant tests which could include a Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) or a colonscopy.

Private Medicals

We offer an extensive range of private medicals to suit you or your company’s needs at Albyn Hospital. These are all undertaken by experienced private GPs who are certified by the OGUK

Aberdeen is easily accessed by road from the North (A96), West (A93) and South (A90).

Albyn Hospital is located in the west-end of Aberdeen which is a 5-minute drive from the city centre.

Bus

The nearest bus stop to Albyn Hospital in Aberdeen is Holburn Junction or Rubislaw Place when using First Bus. The hospital is then a 5-minute walk from these bus stops.

Taxi

Albyn Hospital is a 30-minute drive from Aberdeen Airport or a 10-minute drive from Aberdeen Train station/Bus Terminal.

  • Please call the hospital where the patient is admitted, press zero for switchboard, and they will transfer your call to the patient’s room, or put you in touch with a nurse or a ward.
  • Yes, our hospitals have free WiFi access for our patients and visitors. 
  • Once your appointment is booked, you can request to receive a confirmation email or letter with all the necessary information. To find the confirmation email, please search your email inbox for any message from [email protected].

    You will also receive a text reminder 48 hours prior to your appointment with all the details you need. Please note that this will not be sent if the appointment is booked within 48 hours of the appointment date.

      We are aware of the impact construction work may have on our patients ans are working to minimise the noise and disruption throughout this period, however, this might not always be possible during your visit.
