Dr Aamir Ayub completed his junior doctor’s training at Blackpool Victoria Hospital and Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport. Thereafter, he went to Hammersmith Hospital, London for one year training in cardiology leading to a diploma in cardiology by the University of London.
Dr Ayub returned to the North West and undertook his MD at Manchester Royal Infirmary with Professor Paul Durrington, which he successfully completed in 1999. For the following 8 years, he was based at Wythenshawe Hospital where he gained useful experience in echocardiography and invasive cardiology including coronary angiography, right heart catheters, single and dual chamber pacemaker implantations, loop recorder implantations, implantation of ICD’s and biventricular pacemakers.
Dr Ayub now carries out more than 2000 coronary angiograms and more than 600 pacemakers. He carries out these procedures as part of his NHS work on regular basis.
