Ammar Abbas completed eight years of postgraduate orthopaedic training in Ireland. He subsequently undertook fellowship training for a year and a half in lower limb reconstructive surgery in the University Hospital of Wales, one of the largest tertiary orthopaedic units in the UK.
He has been a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon for four years, currently based at Hairmyres Hospital. His NHS practice involves high volume hip and knee replacement surgery. Mr Abbas' sub-specialty interest is computer-assisted knee replacement and difficult primary and revision knee replacement.
