Personal profile
He qualified from the University of Munich Medical School in 2003. Following his surgical internship in Cape Town, South Africa, he became a lecturer in anatomy and completed a post-graduate doctorate degree at the University of Munich.
He underwent basic surgical training at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals and then trained in Orthopaedics in the North West of England – Mr Baumann was awarded the Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2013.
After completing his higher specialist training rotation in Orthopaedics, Mr Baumann underwent fellowship training in Shoulder Surgery at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport. Subsequently he completed a fellowship in Hand, Wrist and Elbow Surgery in Bristol before being appointed as an Orthopaedic Consultant in Upper Limb Surgery at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals in April 2017.
Mr Baumann has an active interest in teaching and research. He has published several peer-reviewed papers and book chapters and is currently the Clinical Governance Lead for Orthopaedics at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.
