Personal Profile

Mr Aralikatti is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and the Clinical Lead for corneal services at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre. He completed his higher specialist training in Leeds and the West Midlands, gaining comprehensive experience across all subspecialties in ophthalmology. He also undertook 18 months of Advanced Corneal Training in Birmingham followed by a fellowship at the Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham.

He treats patients with a wide range of ophthalmic conditions and has expertise in modern small incision Cataract Surgery. He prides himself in providing high-quality service to his patients. His surgical complication rates are consistently below the national average. He provides tertiary referral service for patients with Corneal and External Eye Diseases including Keratoconus, Contact Lens related problems and Ocular Surface Disease. He receives regional referrals for corneal surgery including Corneal Crosslinking for Keratoconus and modern Corneal Transplant operations. He has trained many UK and international fellows to undertake corneal surgery.

Mr Aralikatti has received several NHS clinical excellence awards. He has been an invited speaker and has presented at national and international meetings. He is the author of many peer-reviewed publications and has written a chapter in Duane’s Clinical Ophthalmology, a premier reference textbook for eye professionals worldwide.

He is involved in teaching professionals including GPs and Optometrists and is a University Designated Medical Supervisor for Ophthalmic Nurse Practitioners. He has also held the posts of College Tutor for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists London and the regional Training Programme Director for 58 ophthalmology trainees in the West Midlands.

In his spare time, Mr Aralikatti enjoys travelling and spending time with his family and friends. He is passionate about cricket and a keen badminton player.
