Dr Dafydd Bowen Gastroenterology

Personal Profile

Dr Dafydd Bowen trained in Gastroenterology and General Medicine in South Wales and the Wessex deanery. Being local to the area he chose to return home to practice as a consultant. He has been doing so now since 2008 serving his local community in both Welsh and English.

He undertakes the greatest number of endoscopic procedures within Hywel Dda NHS trust and as such provides high quality procedures alongside advanced polypectomy techniques. In his NHS practice he receives referrals from fellow Consultant Endoscopists and works closely with Laproscopic Colorectal Surgeons offering a wide range of advanced and safe procedures.

He is the lead for Clinical Audit and Training in Endoscopy within the Carmarthenshire division of Hywel Dda NHS Trust. Providing high quality training and maintaining standards are important to him. Since Dr Bowen has been in post, Hywel Dda is now recognised by the Welsh deanery as being an excellent centre for trainee endoscopists.

Dr Bowen lives in Carmarthen and is married with three young children. Although they don’t give him much spare time you might see Dr Bowen trying to keep fit in the leisure centre or running quite slowly near home, usually too breathless to say hello.
