More recently he has been working as Clinical Lead for F2 development at the Department of Health Informatics Directorate; this post came to an end in July 2012.
He has been a member of the City & East London Research Ethics Committee for 20 years. His research interests include the vascular applications of lasers, and trauma outcomes. More recently he has been carrying out original research in the area of Healthcare Informatics. He is the author of over 150 papers, chapters and abstracts in learned journals and textbooks, on vascular surgery, trauma and healthcare informatics. He is the Editor in Chief of Grand Rounds, a peer reviewed journal for case reports, and is Associate Editor (previously Editor in Chief) of Lasers in Medical Science.
He provides surgical services in vascular medicine including Raynaud’s disease, varicose veins, thread veins, hernia repair and other minor surgery at Circle Health Group hospitals including The London Independent and Shirley Oaks Hospital.
Mr Cross is a recognized medicolegal expert in the area of hand-arm vibration syndrome, and provides reports on personal injury and medical negligence in vascular surgery.
He left the Royal London in 2011 and now works as a private surgeon and as a part-time academic teacher at Queen Mary University of London.
