Personal Profile
Mr Ahmed graduated from Donetsk State Medical University, Donetsk, Ukraine in 2001 and had his initial training in Pakistan. He received his research degree from Hull University in 2010 and completed his higher surgical training from Wessex Deanery, UK.
He has keen interest in minimally invasive colorectal surgery, and earned a Post CCT fellowship in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery from European Academy of Robotic Colorectal Surgery (ERACS) Lisbon, Portugal.
Mr Ahmed is an experienced surgeon in minimally invasive colorectal and general surgery. He performs laparoscopic colonic and rectal surgery both for malignant and benign conditions including inflammatory bowel disease and coloproctological conditions.
Mr Ahmed has a strong interest in surgical research and teaching, particularly in the minimally invasive treatments for colorectal conditions, and has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles in various medical journals. He also presented over 60 presentations in different national and international scientific meetings.
Mr Ahmed is surgical tutor and lead for teaching and training for surgical trainees at Northampton General Hospital. He has been part of the faculty in various national and international master classes for laparoscopic surgery. Currently he is member of the faculty for various courses run by Royal College of Surgeons and is Lead for Education Committee for Serbian National Training Programme for Minimally Invasive Colorectal Surgery.
Mr Ahmed appreciates the importance of research and academia in the advancement of knowledge and evidence based care for my patients. His interest expanded whilst working in the NHS and he learnt research ethics and undertook a number of research projects and publications. Today, he is pleased to say that he is an author of a chapter in a Colorectal book: “Contemporary Issues in Colorectal Surgical Practice”, published 40 peer-reviewed articles and presented over 60 oral or poster presentations at various national and international meetings.
