Dr Chander has attained extensive experience in Rheumatology and General Medicine.

Training and Appointment

Dr Chander trained in London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex, in renowned teaching hospitals including Kings College Hospital, London. He has been awarded memberships including MBBS, MRCP (UK), MRCP (Rheumatology) from the Royal College of Physicians London.  He also completed a postgraduate Master of Science (MSc) in Rheumatology, which he passed with Merit, from King's College London.

He has experience in general rheumatology and its sub-specialties (including osteoporosis) both within inpatients and outpatients. He is also very happy to deal with more complex rheumatologic conditions and complications.  Dr Chander's special interests are in osteoporosis, inflammatory back disease, inflammatory arthritis, vasculitis, crystal arthritis and connective tissue diseases.

Current Practice

Dr Chander works closely with physiotherapists, occupational therapists and podiatrists to provide a multidisciplinary team approach towards the management of individual patients. He takes care to tailor treatment according to a patient's individual needs and delivers an empathetic service.  Within his NHS practice at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, Dr Chander hosts a monthly axial SpA (AS) clinic.

Long Covid Clinic

Dr Chander is one of the multi-disciplinary team of specialists forming the recently established Long Covid Clinic at Mount Alvernia Hospital.  It was launched in March 2021 to support and treat patients suffering with the long-term effects of Covid-19 and is unique in offering each patient a bespoke treatment package, with input from a variety of specialists, who will meet on a monthly basis to review patient progress.
