Clinical Interests

  • Adam treats all problems around the elbow, forearm and wrist.  He is a specialist in elbow arthroscopy, elbow replacement, trauma reconstruction of the elbow.  He has a large sports injury practice working with a number of professional clubs and athletes.  His research interests include elbow arthroplasty, tennis elbow, trauma reconstruction of elbow and forearm.

 

Personal profile

Mr Adam Watts is a Consultant Orthopaedic Elbow surgeon at Wrightington Hospital and Visiting Professor at the University of Manchester. He trained on fellowship in Adelaide, Australia and Wrightington, UK. His clinical and research interests include the treatment of degenerative joint disease, sports injury and trauma, with a focus on arthroscopic techniques and joint reconstruction.

He works with a number of National sporting organisations.  Mr Watts has over 130 publications in upper limb surgery, has contributed to national guidelines on wrist fractures, elbow arthroplasty and infection and is a designer of surgical techniques and implants.  He is a Specialty Editor for the Bone and Joint Journal and Shoulder and Elbow Journal, and sits on the Editorial Board for the National Joint Registry.

Mr Watts is an NIHR Grant award holder and a Research Lead at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHSFT.
