Mr Adeel Sahal graduated from Rawalpindi Medical College in Pakistan in 2003 and went on to complete my core medical and then dual specialist training in the NHS, achieving my certificate of completion of training (CCT) in respiratory and general internal medicine in 2014.
He works at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust and he is a pleural disease and asthma services lead for the trust.
Mr Sahal expert in managing patients with Asthma. He has established Multidisciplinary asthma clinic where he provides comprehensive management of asthma patients presenting with multitude of problems. In addition to standard treatments he also provides biological treatments locally after getting approval from regional asthma MDT where he represents his Trust.
He has established ambulatory pleural disease service at SWBH NHS trust. The main aim of this service is to prevent hospital admissions by providing comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services in the outpatient setting. Mr Sahal performs a wide range of diagnostic pleural procedures in the day case setting including Thoracic ultrasound, Pleural aspiration, blind pleural biopsy and Medical Thoracoscopy. He has established robust Indwelling Pleural catheter (IPC) service to improve quality of life for the patients suffering from recurrent malignant effusions.
Mr Sahal also does general respiratory clinics where I enjoy challenge of managing patients with variety of acute and chronic respiratory conditions including cough, breathlessness, COPD, bronchiectasis, respiratory failure and obstructive sleep apnoea.
He is a clinical governance lead for Respiratory medicine and he has led various projects aimed at improving patient safety and quality of care within the trust.
He has taken active part in research and development throughout my career. I have published research work and presented number of abstracts in international conferences. In addition, he is a keen teacher and have recently taken up role of senior clinical lecturer at university of Birmingham.
On his spare time, Mr Sahahl enjoys time with my wife and three lovely daughters. He is also a cricket enthusiast and plays as an all-rounder in Marches cricket league, as well as coach buddy cricketers including his daughters.
