Personal Profile

Dr Kafafy currently holds the position of Pain Medicine Consultant and Clinical Service Lead for pain, therapies and musculoskeletal services at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS foundation trust in Birmingham aswell as The Priory Hospital.

He started his UK training at King's College hospital then the Royal Free Hospital in London; he then continued his training and moved to the Midlands for more advanced pain training.  He completed his specialist training at the Dudley Group of hospitals, which is a tertiary referral centre for pain, and Neuromodulation.  

He gained UK wide experience working as a Pain Consultant in a number of hospitals, including working in Guildford, then Gloucestershire and finally settling in back in the Midlands.

Dr Kafafy has taken a keen interest in both national and international education: he joined the ‘Sarajevo Anaesthetic Forum’ faculty in 2011, making him responsible for organising annual workshops and lectures for medical students and trainees in Eastern Europe.

He also volunteers with charities and humanitarian organisations teaching Doctors and Paramedics from War zones around the world. 

In his personal time Dr Kafafy is a keen swimmer and he enjoys hikes and long walks with his 3 children.

Dr Kafafy has an interest in different spinal, joint injections and radio frequency ablation. He specialises in treating patients with back and neck pain by using both drugs and injection therapies. He is experienced in managing pain for fibromyalgia syndrome, chronic abdominal and facial pains, and also provides treatments for chronic migraines
