Personal Profile
After qualifying in Birmingham in 1990, I worked in range of specialties including plastic surgery, before specialising in plastic surgery in 1998. I trained in plastic surgery in Sheffield, Cambridge, Norwich, London and in Auckland, New Zealand, before returning as a consultant to Sheffield in 2006, which is where I had originally began my plastic surgery career.
My main areas of interest are skin cancer and burns management and include skin lesion excision, removal of benign (harmless) skin lesions, removal of subcutaneous fatty lumps (lipomas) in adults and in children and general plastic surgery in children, including prominent ear correction (pinnaplasty).
As well as diagnosis and initial treatment of skin cancer lesions including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma, I perform wider excision for skin cancer, with skin graft or local flap reconstruction where necessary, with sentinel lymph node biopsy for malignant melanoma skin cancer and lymph node dissection for skin cancer and have a specific interest in the follow-up of patients with skin cancer.
I am the Lead Clinician for the regional Specialist Skin (Cancer) Multi-disciplinary Team (SSMDT) which gives advice to teams managing patients with skin cancer throughout the Sheffield/Barnsley/Chesterfield/Doncaster/Rotherham region.
