Personal Profile
Mr Howieson is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon working at Forth Valley Royal Hospital and at Kings Park Hospital, Stirling. He graduated in 2000 from Edinburgh University and worked at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, before continuing his higher surgical training on the East of England (Cambridge) training programme. He obtained an MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering from Cardiff University and has a Diploma in Sports & Exercise Medicine. He completed a lower limb arthroplasty fellowship in New Zealand, followed by a knee fellowship at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre, Bristol.
Mr Howieson was appointed a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Forth Valley Royal Hospital in 2014 and he is interested in lower limb surgery and trauma. He specialises in hip and knee surgery, including total and partial knee replacement and joint preservation techniques. He also performs sports knee surgery, including ACL reconstruction and meniscal repairs.
