Personal profile

Mr Gillespie qualified in London in 1992 and subsequently trained in Sheffield and Cambridge gaining dual specialist accreditation in 2003 in obstetrics/gynaecology and gynaecological oncology.

Mr Gillespie was appointed as a Consultant Gynaecological Surgeon in 2003. He offers surgical training programmes to all levels of trainee and mentors consultant colleagues in advanced gynaecological laparoscopic surgery.

Mr Gillespie has a broad clinical practice investigating and treating most gynaecological problems. He is the lead clinician for gynaecology cancer services at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals – the regional cancer centre.

Mr Gillespie has published a large number of research papers and abstracts in many aspects of gynaecology including keyhole surgery, surgical techniques, cancer, colposcopy and robotics. He has been invited to present his research finding in the UK, Europe, Asia and America.

I aim to provide the highest standards of care. Private consultations are offered at Thornbury Hospital. My service is patient centred with consultation times offered inside and outside of working hours making it accessible and convenient for the patient. I offer a personal and individual service with generous length of appointment times to enable all patients concerns and worries to be addressed. Reassuring patients as quickly as possible about the underlying nature of their problems is a key goal of this service”.
