Alan is an exceptionally experienced and qualified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who qualified from Edinburgh Dental Hospital in 1985. He then went on to win the Deans Medal at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh while becoming a Fellow in Dental Surgery. The RCSE is also where he specialised in Oral Medicine and Oral Surgery.
Alan completed his medical training at Southampton Medical School, where he qualified with a First Class Honours Degree in 1993 and, subsequently, became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1997. He successfully obtained his Fellowship in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in May 2001.
Alan specialises in Orthognathic surgery correcting jaw and facial deformities. The work involves correcting severe bite abnormalities and facial asymmetry/disproportion. He works in close collaboration with his Orthodontic and Restorative Dentistry specialist colleagues in a multi-disciplinary setting to achieve the best results for patients. He also has an interest in facial pain and disorders of the jaw joint.
