Personal profile

Mr Jones is a full-time Consultant Plastic Surgeon working in the NHS and in the independent sector. His NHS practice is based at the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton. He offers private treatment at the BMI Woodlands for many different cosmetic and functional procedures as well as some NHS treatments via the “choose and book” system.

Mr Jones places great emphasis on the delivery of high quality, patient centred healthcare and is building a successful practice with individualised treatment plans developed for each of his patients. Mr Jones regularly receives positive feedback from both patients and their families as well as other healthcare professionals. He will discuss your aims and objectives for surgery and work with you in order to construct a safe, realistic surgical plan in order to achieve your goals.

Education and Training - Mr Jones has received a comprehensive training in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. He qualified from Leeds medical school with honours and was awarded commendations and distinctions in sciences and clinical medicine during his degree. This training followed a first class honours degree in physiology.

After graduation, he completed medical and surgical training in the north of England and obtained the Royal College of Surgeons membership examination (MRCS) as well as a certificate of completion of basic surgical training (CCBST). He then undertook formal higher surgical training in plastic and reconstructive surgery, also in the north of England, during which he completed the Royal College of Surgeons Fellowship examination (FRCS Plast).

His training covered the breadth of plastic surgery including corrective breast surgery, breast reconstruction, skin cancer management and surgery after weight loss.

At the end of his training he undertook a twelve-month fellowship in Head and Neck Oncology Surgery at the Christie Cancer Hospital and the Manchester Royal Infirmary. This involved the surgical management of complex head and neck cancers including their removal and reconstruction, providing him with valuable experience working on the face and neck. He has been awarded a Certificate of Completion of Higher Surgical training (CCT) in plastic surgery.

Publications and Research - Mr Jones has published numerous scientific articles including clinical studies, case reports and educational material in peer reviewed journals. He has authored a comprehensive educational book in plastic surgery with Dr Jeff Janis in the USA, "Essentials of Plastic Surgery - A Q&A review"  This book covers the spectrum of reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery from basic principles to complex approaches to reconstruction and microsurgery. He has also written chapters for other educational books including the management of burns.

Teaching and Training - Mr Jones is actively involved in training the next generation of plastic surgeons. He is a panel member for recruitment into the national plastic surgery training scheme and also for the annual appraisal of plastic surgeons in training in the northeast.
