Mr Ali Keshtgar is a highly experienced Consultant Paediatric Surgeon providing services to children and their families in the cleanliness and comfort of the private Blackheath Hospital in London. Since 2004, he has been a full time consultant providing emergency and elective services to University Hospital Lewisham, NHS Trust and the Evelina Children’s Hospital, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, London.
He covers all aspects of general paediatric surgery, and has had more than 15 years experience as a specialist paediatric surgeon. He has trained in well-known paediatric surgery centres in the United Kingdom including Alder Hey Children Hospital, Liverpool, Southampton Hospital, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, London.
Mr Keshtgar has expertise in investigations and treatments of gastrointestinal (Gut) problems and motility disorders in children, including idiopathic constipation and faecal incontinence, Hirschsprung disease and anorectal malformations. He also has a subspecialty interest in the field of minimally invasive surgery and laparoscopy.
As a result of Mr Keshtgar’s research work, he has introduced botulinum toxin and the innovative transcutaneous needle-free injection of the toxin as a novel treatment of childhood constipation and anal fissure. His PhD thesis was on this subject and he has extensive publications in this field in peer reviewed international journals. Mr Keshtgar’s NHS Unit is a recognised tertiary referral centre and receives referrals from all over the UK.
