Amer Shoaib is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon who specialises in conditions of the foot and ankle.
Training and Appointment
Amer qualified from St George’s Hospital Medical School in London. He worked in London and Manchester as a junior hospital doctor and then trained in orthopaedics and trauma in Wales and Oswestry. He underwent advanced surgical training in Foot and Ankle surgery. He has been a Consultant in Stockport since January 2008 with his NHS practice at Manchester Royal Infirmary.
Mr Shoaib is a member of the Manchester Orthopaedic Group. This is a group practice of orthopaedic surgeons encompassing all the various sub specialities of orthopaedics including spinal surgery, hip and knee surgery, children’s orthopaedic surgery and reconstructive surgery. Amer’s NHS practice centres around foot and ankle surgery. This includes injuries of the foot and ankle as well as naturally occurring conditions. He also deals with complicated limb injuries and deformities with circular frame external fixators. Amer trained under several eminent foot and ankle surgeons and can offer modern surgical and non surgical treatments for all foot and ankle conditions from ingrowing toe nails to bunions and ankle replacements.
Amer served with the Royal Army Medical Corps in Bosnia, and has treated casualties in four wars, as well as responding to the Haiti earthquake. He runs a medical charity called Orthocycle and also runs courses on foot and ankle surgery and external fixation. He lives in Manchester with his wife and children and enjoys hill-walking,running and cycling with his family.
