Amer Shoaib is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon with expertise in conditions affecting the foot and ankle.

He qualified from St George’s Hospital Medical School in London. Having worked in London and Manchester as a junior hospital doctor, he trained in Orthopaedic Surgery in Wales and Oswestry. He underwent advanced surgical training in Foot and Ankle surgery before becoming a Consultant in January 2008. His NHS practice is at Manchester Royal Infirmary and Trafford General Hospitals.

Amer is involved in training junior doctors, and is regularly invited to speak at national and international meetings to share his experiences. He also teaches on postgraduate courses.

Amer also treats complicated limb injuries and deformities with circular frame external fixators. He has extensive experience in this, especially in dealing with complex injuries from several conflicts. He served with the Royal Army Medical Corps in Bosnia, as well as providing humanitarian support in Haiti after the earthquake and in Syria, treating civilians caught up in the terrible civil war.

Amer runs a charity called Orthocycle. This charity runs courses in the UK to train doctors in foot and ankle surgery, and also recycles medical equipment for use in less developed countries.

Amer’s practice encompasses injuries of the foot and ankle, as well as long term conditions such as arthritis, bunions, flat feet and trapped nerves. He can advise on modern non surgical and surgical treatments for all foot and ankle conditions. He offers keyhole surgery in several areas including bunion surgery, toe surgery and Achilles tendon ruptures.

He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, as well as the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, the British Medical Association and the British Limb Reconstruction Society.
